LET’S TALK ABOUT THE JOB!
The Senior Manager Consolidation & Corporate Accounting is responsible for the consolidation, preparation and control of periodical and yearly stand-alone and group financial statements, maintaining and controlling the accounts of the group’s holding and financing companies, and optimizing Shurgard’s cash management and treasury function.


You report to the Director of Reporting, Planning & Analysis, and manage 2 direct reports.

LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES!

Group Consolidation and Control

  • You have end-responsibility for the consolidation, preparation and control of the periodical and yearly stand-alone and consolidated IFRS financial statements of the Group.
  • You control the accuracy of the monthly, quarterly and year-end close, respecting the due dates and deadlines set.
  • On a quarterly basis, you prepare internal reporting and calculate the EPRA (industry specific) metrics.
  • With the support of the Director of Reporting & Analysis, you make recommendations through memorandums on the accounting and reporting of complex or unusual transactions. You also oversee and/or prepare specific IFRS transactions, such as accounting for leases, share-based compensation expenses or pensions.
  • You support the calculation and reporting of deferred taxes in close collaboration with the Director of Tax.
  • In your role, you will also have regular contact with the Financial Reporting & Analysis, Accounting & Legal teams on various accounting & reporting topics.
  • You manage the relationship and planning with external auditors during the periodical and yearly audits.

Corporate Accounting of Holding & Financing entities

  • You have end-responsibility for accurate accounting, control and preparation of the financial statements for our corporate holding and financing entities.
  • You oversee the periodical recharge of expenses from the central support centers to the operating companies process.

Treasury

  • You oversee the cash pooling structure within the group, and you are responsible for the internal and external financing.
  • You manage the relationship with the banks and have end responsibility of the covenants reporting.
  • You optimize Shurgard’s cash utilization, ensuring it is utilized and invested in the most efficient way.
  • You ensure that entities within the group are adequately financed.

Process and systems

  • You are responsible for the correct set up and maintenance of Shurgard’s consolidation software application (Oracle HFM), as well as the related IT General Controls.
  • You ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
  • You establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures.
  • You contribute to the improvements of the business reporting systems and tools.
  • You participate on an ad hoc basis in group-wide projects on financial management or systems development.

LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR PROFILE!

  • You hold a master’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or equivalent experience.
  • You have at least 8 years of professional experience in accounting, financial controlling, consolidation or reporting, in a multinational (preferably listed) company. Experience in a Big 4 is considered as an asset.
  • You have solid knowledge of IFRS standards and are keen on following up on new developments.
  • You have strong experience or exposure to consolidation activities, with an affinity to accounting.
  • You have the ambition, ability and vision to increase your responsibilities fast.
  • You have a fluent working knowledge of English. Good French and/or Dutch language skills are considered an asset.
  • You have a good working knowledge of MS Office applications in general and excellent Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of consolidation software (Oracle HFM) is a strong asset.
