You report to the Director of Tax and provide effective support to the Tax team on domestic and foreign tax issues in Europe. To accomplish your tasks, limited travelling may be required.


 


LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES!


About your tax accounting responsibilities: 



  • You prepare/analyze tax related financial reporting under IFRS and local GAAP.

  • You coordinate with external advisors on tax accounting related matters and participate in tax accounting technical discussions with experts.

  • You participate in the tax provision process.

  • You reconcile and analyze accounting and tax financial information and ensure accuracy in tax ledgers and documents.


About your tax compliance responsibilities: 



  • You review complex income tax and VAT returns.

  • You prepare and manage tax documentation on a regular basis.

  • You participate in the tax compliance process.

  • You maintain tax balances on the general ledgers of the various Group entities.


About your tax advisory responsibilities: 



  • You identify and mitigate tax risks.

  • You participate in local country tax audits.

  • You deliver a full range of support to the other departments in compliance with laws and regulations.

  • You handle all information tax data requests.

  • You participate with the Director of Tax on real estate, corporate acquisition and tax projects.


About the process and systems: 



  • You contribute to systems, integration of new entities, maintenance of policies and procedures.

  • You strive for continual improvement of Shurgard’s tax processes.

  • You contribute to the development of IT solutions.


About the people: 



  • You are a member of a centralized tax department for all tax matters and work within an experienced tax team.

  • You collaborate with the other department staff on an ad hoc basis.

Profile (ex. Education, experience, competencies, etc)

LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR PROFILE!



  • You have a master’s degree in Economics or Law, preferably with tax specialization or similar through experience.

  • You have at least four years of experience within a Big 4 tax team.

  • Solid tax law and accounting knowledge at a European level is an asset.

  • ERP experience and/or IFRS exposure are a strong plus.

  • You have a fluent knowledge of English. Any other European language skills are considered as a plus.

  • You have a working knowledge of Microsoft applications, in particular strong sympathy for Excel and Power Query & Pivot.
